ON CALCULATION OF NATURAL FREQUENCIES
OF COMPRESSED RODS WITH VARIABLE CROSS-SECTION

Abstract

A method of constructing improved basis functions for frequency calculation by means of Bubnov-Galerkin method is proposed. Method efficiency is demonstrated by analysis of cantilever rod with variable cross-section. Natural frequencies of such unloaded rod are calculated, and critical force for a rod compressed by follower force is determined.
