Abstract

A technique is developed which provides synthesis of a precursor for aluminumgraphene composites with enhanced mechanical properties. The optimal conditions for production of such a precursor from aluminum and graphite powders are selected. The process of graphite-to-graphene transformation via micromechanical graphite splitting and the plastic properties of the precursor are examined. The presence of graphene in the precursor is experimentallydocumented. The properties of the synthesized precursor (ductility (plasticity) and opportunity to compact a specimen by pressing) are consistent with the requirements for synthesis of the aluminum-graphene composites.
