Facilities

Although the LFW is not a large-scale operation, in the Laboratory there are several modern experimental and computational tools as follows:

• Tribometer (Pin-On-Disk type). The POD can be used to investigate the friction and wear of test specimens under various load and speed combinations. A date acquisition software and board are used to collect and control the POD
• Two-canals acoustic emission system
• Atomic force microscope (available at the IPME)
• Images digital analyzer (for wear particle analysis)
• Optical microscope
• Multiple surface profilometer

Other facilities can be accessed through the Integration Program and contracts at the St. Petersburg State University, at the Institute of Treatment of Mineral Product "Mekhanobr", and at the Ioffe Physico-Technical Institute.
